Arsenal FC seem to be all set to snatch Celta Vigo striker Nolito from under the noses of FC Barcelona, as they flex their financial muscle over the Spanish giants.

Nolito has been on impressive form this season, already having scored eight goals from 15 appearances for Celta Vigo.

FC Barcelona, who have just come out of their transfer ban are now elligible to sign players, and are reported to have long been interested in Nolito as a backup to their fearsome Messi-Suarez-Neymar trio. However, as it stands, the Gunners could be ready to hijack the deal, according to Spanish outlet El Mundo Deportivo.

Gunners to trigger Nolito’s release clause?

The reason why FC Barcelona have been struggling to get Nolito over to their side is because they do not seem to be able to match the price that Celta Vigo are asking for him. While Nolito is currently valued at around €15 million by Transfermarkt, Celta Vigo want more for the forward.

This is where Arsenal FC could pip FC Barcelona to the Spain striker, as they are reportedly ready to match the €18 million release clause that is on Nolito’s contract.

Nolito to give variety to Gunners’ attack

Manager Arsene Wenger just has one out and out striker currently in his squad in the form of Olivier Giroud. Giroud is more of an old fashioned centre forward, who sacrifices speed and mobility for strength and size. However, with the addition of Nolito, Arsenal FC would also have a striker who is quick and agile, which matches with their style of play, and gives them more variety up front.
