It is no secret that Chelsea FC need more firepower up front, but it seems that their long-time target Alex Teixeira will not be going anywhere in the January transfer window.

Teixiera has been on hot form of late, scoring 26 goals in as many games for Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk so far this season. This has attracted a lot of interest from all corners of the top European footballing fraternity, with Chelsea FC being the Brazilian’s main suitors.

However, Teixeira will not be moving to any club, not at least till the end of the current season, according to Mircea Lucescu.

“He needs to play more with us to develop further, although his level is already very high,” Lucescu was quoted as saying by TalkSport. “But if he sticks around, the offers in June could be higher.”

“At the moment we have not received any offer and of course, in the future if we receive one which satisfies the club, then we will consider it,” he continued.

Chelsea FC in dire need of quality strikers

With Diego Costa proving this season that he can be erratic and unreliable, Chelsea FC seem to have realised that they would need another striker to get them the goals on a regular basis. They have had their eyes on Teixeira for some time now, but it would be interesting to see what they do if they cannot get the Brazilian in the winter transfer window this season. One option could be to stick with second choice striker Loic Remy, who has also been quite out of form. Although, to be fair to the Frenchman, he is yet to get his fair share of chances.
