Chelsea FC have been heavily linked with the Brazilian attacker, and Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu has revealed that he will let the club top scorer leave if the right offer comes in

Among a host of names that have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, Alex Teixeira’s has probably been the most prominent, with the player himself making no secret of his desire to move to London and ply his trade in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old is having a break-out season in terms of goalscoring, having netted a remarkable 26 goals from 25 games so far this season. Chelsea FC could do with more consistency in their attack, even though Teixeira’s arrival will mean someone within the current squad will probably have to be moved on in the near future.

Addressing the possible departure of his star player,  Shakhtar manager Lucescu is quoted by Metro UK as saying: “Teixeira and I are talked a lot in the press now,’ he said. ‘At the moment there are no official proposals. So it makes no sense to talk about it.

“If there is an offer that will satisfy both the player and the club, I will fully support his move. I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe.”

Teixeira up for grabs if Chelsea FC want him

If the Blues are in fact keen on the Brazilian, a deal is quite likely in the coming transfer windows — possibly even in January. There are reports that summer signing Pedro has not settled at Chelsea FC and is regretting the decision to leave FC Barcelona, while the future of Oscar is also far from certain.

With a former teammate at the club and no dearth of Brazilians, one would imagine it wouldn’t take long for Teixeira to adjust to life in London, and his arrival could be the sort of boost the squad needs to salvage something from this season.
