Chelsea had been trying to offload misfiring Colombian forward Radamel Falcao, but it looks like they’re stuck with him for the rest of the season as AS Monaco expressed their disinterest in taking him back.

29-year-old Radamel Falcao made a name for himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the world at clubs like Porto and Atletico Madrid, but the man who was once referred to as El Tigre seems to have lost his predatory instincts and status after a knee injury in early 2014.

The most recent humiliation he faced was when Chelsea FC, who had signed him on a one year loan, were rumoured to be trying to get him back to parent club AS Monaco. It looks like the French club would prefer that he stay at Stamford Bridge, considering the fact that he’s just scored one goal this season and has been sidelined again with an injury.

“Falcao is currently injured. He has to wait for six to seven more weeks. Due to it, we took the decision of not taking him back in Monaco,” said Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev, according to goal.com.

Premier League Flop

After the disaster that was Falcao’s loan spell at Manchester United in 2013-14, many were expecting that he’d give up on trying to prove himself in England. But then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho felt otherwise and brought him to Stamford Bridge, claiming that he would help the Colombian find his lost form.

Since then, Mourinho has been sacked by Chelsea and Falcao is being regarded as excess baggage at the club. It looks like his stint at Chelsea has not lived up to the club’s expectations.
