N’Golo Kante and Andreas Christensen start for Chelsea, but Mason Mount misses out as they get set to take on Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has named a much-changed side from the midweek Carabao Cup clash against Southampton for their Premier League contest against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Edouard Mendy returns between the sticks, having made way for Kepa Arrizabalaga in the cup tie. The three-man backline is in for a complete revamp, with the fit-again Andreas Christensen starting alongside Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger. Captain Cesar Azpilicueta, having recovered from his minor injury, is named on the bench.

Reece James, who started at centre-back against the Saints, moves to the right wing-back slot while Ben Chilwell comes into the side on the opposite flank, at the expense of Marcos Alonso. N’Golo Kante is back fit again and starts in the middle of the park alongside Jorginho, who dons the captain’s armband. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been named among the substitutes.

The big news, however, is that Mason Mount is missing from the matchday squad for Chelsea. With the England international absent, Hakim Ziyech gets another go in the attacking midfield slot, alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi. Kai Havertz starts as the lone striker for Chelsea versus the Magpies.

Chelsea Starting Lineup: Mendy, Christensen, Silva, Rudiger, James, Kante, Jorginho, Chilwell, Ziyech, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi.
