Luke Shaw is fit to start while Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo have been benched as Manchester United prepare to welcome Everton to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made five changes to the side that beat Villarreal 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League as Manchester United get set to play hosts to Everton at Old Trafford. There are no shuffles in goal, where David de Gea keeps hold of his spot ahead of Dean Henderson.

The defensive line sees a couple of changes, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw returning in the full-back pairing as Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles make way. At the heart of the Manchester United defence, Victor Lindelof starts alongside Raphael Varane once again in the absence of captain Harry Maguire.

Up ahead in midfield, Fred is the major change, with the Brazilian international coming in for Paul Pogba to sit alongside Scott McTominay in the double pivot. Pogba has, in fact, dropped down to the bench instead of starting up in the left wing berth.

Instead, that spot is taken up by Anthony Martial, who is handed a rare start by Solskjaer. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role and dons the captain’s armband for Manchester United while Mason Greenwood starting on the right flank again. Leading the line for the hosts against Everton is Edinson Cavani, with Cristiano Ronaldo surprisingly dropped to the bench.

Manchester United Starting Lineup: de Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Martial, Cavani
