Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof make the starting XI while Bruno Fernandes captains the side as Manchester United take on Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a few changes to the side that started in the weekend defeat to Aston Villa for the UEFA Champions League Group F clash against Villarreal at Old Trafford.

No alteration has been made in goal, with David de Gea preferred over Dean Henderson. But there are three changes in the backline with Alex Telles and Victor Lindelof coming in for the injured duo of Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, respectively. Diogo Dalot, meanwhile starts in place of the suspended Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Raphael Varane holding onto his place.

Scott McTominay gets the nod in the middle of the park yet again, but Fred has dropped out of the lineup. This creates room for Paul Pogba to move into the midfield double pivot for Manchester United against Villarreal. The vacant left-wing slot has been taken up by new signing Jadon Sancho while Mason Greenwood continues out on the right.

Bruno Fernandes, who missed a penalty in the loss to Villa, dons the captain’s armband in Maguire’s absence and starts in the No. 10 role. Up top, Cristiano Ronaldo continues again with Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial options on the bench.

Manchester United Starting XI: de Gea, Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Telles, McTominay, Pogba, Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho, Ronaldo.
