Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek start while Dean Henderson also returns as Manchester United get set to take on West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rung in the changes for the Carabao Cup third-round contest against West Ham United at Old Trafford. Indeed, the Norwegian has fielded an entirely new team to the one that started against the Hammers at the weekend in the Premier League.

Dean Henderson makes his first appearance of the season having recovered from Covid-related illness and had some game-time with reserves. Alex Telles is another player who is featuring for the first time this term after recovering from an injury. Diogo Dalot, meanwhile, gets the nod at right-back while Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly pair up as the two centre-backs.

Donny van de Beek gets a rare starting opportunity for Manchester United, with the Dutchman forming the midfield double pivot alongside Nemanja Matic, who will be the captain of the team on the night. Juan Mata, meanwhile, also features in the starting XI, slotting in as the No. 10 for the Red Devils.

Jesse Lingard, who scored the winning goal for Manchester United against West Ham at the weekend features from the start here while summer signing Jadon Sancho also gets selected. Spearheading the attack for the hosts is Anthony Martial, with Cristiano Ronaldo omitted from the matchday squad. Mason Greenwood, Anthony Elanga and Bruno Fernandes make the bench, as does forgotten man Phil Jones.

Manchester United Starting XI: Henderson, Dalot, Bailly, Lindelof, Telles, van de Beek, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Sancho, Martial.
