Anthony Martial returns while Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane are on the bench as Manchester United prepare to take on Southampton at St. Mary’s.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made two changes to the side that started in the 5-1 win over Leeds United last weekend as Manchester United get set to lock horns with Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium. There are no shuffles in goal, as David de Gea retains his spot between the sticks.

The defensive line remains unchanged as well, with Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire pairing up at the heart of the Manchester United defence while Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka continuing as the two full-backs. However, Raphael Varane is on the bench and could be in line to make his Manchester United debut later in the game.

Up ahead in midfield, the double pivot sees one change, with Nemanja Matic coming in for Scott McTominay. The veteran Serb pairs up with Fred in the middle of the park, with Bruno Fernandes reprising his usual no. 10 role higher up the pitch.

The second and final change comes in attack, with Anthony Martial replacing Daniel James. Martial could be leading the line for Manchester United against Southampton, with Mason Greenwood starting on the right flank. Paul Pogba is the final man in attack, meaning Jadon Sancho will once again feature off the bench.

Manchester United Starting Lineup: de Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Pogba, Martial
