Daniel James has been handed a start while Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho are on the bench as Manchester United prepare to take on Leeds United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a few interesting calls while naming the first starting lineup on the season, with a couple of key players on the bench, as Manchester United get set to play hosts to Leeds United at Old Trafford. In goal, David de Gea has started, as expected, with Tom Heaton his deputy in the absence of Dean Henderson.

The defensive line has a familiar shape as well in the absence of Raphael Varane. Victor Lindelof pairs up with captain Harry Maguire at the heart of the Manchester United defence, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw being the two full-backs against Leeds.

Up ahead in midfield, another familiar sight can be seen, with Scott McTominay and Fred lining up alongside each other in the double pivot. That means Paul Pogba will be featuring on one of the two flanks, with Daniel James taking his place on the opposite wing.

As for Bruno Fernandes, he is set to reprise his usual no. 10 role, with Donny van de Beek missing out. Finally, Mason Greenwood leads the line for Manchester United, meaning Anthony Martial only has a place on the bench. Like Martial, United new boy Jadon Sancho is aming the substitutes as well, with the two attacking players bringing the fireworks off the bench later in the game.

Manchester United Starting Lineup: de Grea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, James, Bruno Fernandes, Pogba, Greenwood
