Thiago Silva and Timo Werner start while Mason Mount has been left out of the lineup as Chelsea gear up to take on West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has made a number of interesting selection decisions for the Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge.

Edouard Mendy reclaims his starting berth from Kepa Arrizabalaga, who had started the last game against Sheffield United in the FA Cup. Cesar Azpilicueta and Kurt Zouma line up in the three-man backline alongside veteran defender Thiago Silva, who returned from injury recently and gets the nod ahead of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Reece James is preferred to Callum Hudson-Odoi at right wing-back but Marcos Alonso gets the nod ahead of Ben Chilwell on the opposite flank. N’Golo Kante’s injury-enforced absence means Jorginho, who has recovered from a knee injury, partners Mateo Kovacic in the middle of the park against West Brom.

The biggest news, though, is the omission of in-form star Mason Mount from the lineup. The attacking midfielder finds himself on the bench, with Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech getting the nod in the two slots just in behind the main striker Timo Werner. Tammy Abraham does not make the bench despite having returned to full fitness.

Chelsea Starting Lineup: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Silva, Zouma, James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso, Pulisic, Werner, Ziyech
