Olivier Giroud and Ben Chilwell are among those who return while Marcos Alonso has been benched as Chelsea prepare to take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Thomas Tuchel has made three changes to the side that started in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week as Chelsea get set to lock horns with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. There are no shuffles in goal, where Edouard Mendy continues to be preferred over Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The first change comes in the three-man defensive unit, where Andreas Christensen comes in for the injured Thiago Silva. Christensen joins Antonio Rudiger and captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the back three. As for the wing-backs, Reece James retains his spot, but Marcos Alonso drops out of the starting lineup, with Ben Chilwell being recalled.

Up ahead in midfield, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic continue to enjoy the Chelsea manager’s faith on the back of a solid midweek performance. N’Golo Kante, therefore, misses out once again, with Billy Gilmour another backup midfield option.

The third and final change comes in attack, with Callum Hudson-Odoi making way for Olivier Giroud. The French international leads the line for Chelsea against Sheffield United, with Timo Werner and Mason Mount playing off of him. The likes of Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech and Tammy Abraham are backup options on the bench.

Chelsea Starting Lineup: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Chilwell, Mount, Werner, Giroud
