Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic are among those who return while Timo Werner start as the central striker as Chelsea prepare to take on Manchester City.

Frank Lampard has made five changes to the side that started in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last time out, as Chelsea get set to lock horns with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. There is no shuffle in goal, where Edouard Mendy starts ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga once again.

The first changes come in defence, where Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, pairing up at the heart of the Chelsea defence. Captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell, though, continue as the two full-backs against Manchester City.

Up ahead in midfield, the only change sees Jorginho makes way for Mateo Kovacic. As a result, N’Golo Kante is likely to be deployed in his favoured holding midfield role, with Kovacic and Mason Mount being the two box-to-box midfielders. Jorginho, Billy Gilmour and Kai Havertz are the backup midfield options on the bench.

The final two changes on the day comes in attack, where Christian Pulisic is the only player keeping hold of his place. The big update is the return of Hakim Ziyech, who takes his place on the right side of the Chelsea attack, with Pulisic stationed on the left wing. Finally, Timo Werner leads the line for the Blues against Manchester City.

Chelsea Starting Lineup: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Silva, Chilwell, Kovacic, Kante, Mount, Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic
