Olivier Giroud starts again while Thiago Silva will don the captain’s armband for Chelsea when they take on Leeds United at Stamford Bridge shortly.

Frank Lampard has made eight changes to the side that started in the 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League as Chelsea get set to lock horns with Leeds United at Stamford Bridge. There is no shuffle in goal, with Edouard Mendy retaining his place between the sticks.

The four-man defensive unit has been changed completely, with Reece James and Ben Chilwell returning as the two full-backs, while Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma start at the heart of the Chelsea defence. Silva will also be donning the captain’s armband for the Blues against Leeds.

Up ahead in midfield, a couple of changes have been made, with Kai Havertz the only player keeping hold of his spot from the midweek game. Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic drop to the bench, with N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount starting in their stead.

Finally, in attack, Olivier Giroud retains his place following a stellar display versus Sevilla. Giroud leads the line for Chelsea against Leeds, with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech flanking him this time around. Christian Pulisic is on the bench, but Callum Hudson-Odoi has been excluded altogether.

Chelsea Confirmed Lineup: Mendy; James, Zouma, Silva, Chilwell; Mount, Kante, Havertz; Ziyech, Giroud, Werner.
