Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opted to go with the midfield pairing of Andreas Pereira and Fred as Manchester United take on Aston Villa.

The rest offered to the first-team stars might help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men come in fresh and reinvigorated for the match against Aston Villa. Solskjaer has named a largely expected Manchester United starting eleven, with David de Gea in goal for the club.

The back four consists of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Brandon Williams. Williams has staked his claim well for the left-back slot and seems to have locked in his place on the team sheet for now.

Andreas Pereira starts in a withdrawn role alongside Fred, with Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic not fit enough to make the matchday squad. Interestingly, James Garner is on the bench and could be an option for Solskjaer to bring on if the Brazilian pairing misfires.

Juan Mata earns a start in the hole, with the attacking trio of Daniel James, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford around him.

Manchester United Starting XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Williams, Pereira, Fred, James, Mata, Rashford, Martial
