Ross Barkley comes into the starting lineup in place of the injured N’Golo Kante as Chelsea prepare to face Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard has made one change to the side that started in the 4-1 win over Southampton last time out, as Chelsea play hosts to Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

Kepa Arrizabalaga keeps his place in goal ahead of Willy Caballero, as expected. The back four remains unchanged as well. Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso continue as the hosts’ full-back pairing, with Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori the central defensive partnership. The absence of another senior centre-back means Marc Guehi the back central defender.

The only change comes in midfield, owing to the absence of N’Golo Kante due to a groin injury. Ross Barkley comes into the side in place of Kante and will provide company to Jorginho in what should be a midfield double pivot.

The front four retain their places from the last game, with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Willian being the two wingers, meaning Christian Pulisic finds himself on the bench once again. Mason Mount will reprise the no. 10 role, with Tammy Abraham leading the line for Chelsea against Newcastle.

Chelsea Confirmed Starting XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Barkley, Jorginho; Willian, Mount, Hudson-Odoi; Abraham
