Callum Hudson-Odoi makes his first Premier League start of the season as Chelsea get set to take on Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Frank Lampard has made one change to the side that started in the 2-1 win over Lille in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week as Chelsea prepare to face Southampton at St. Mary’s.

The aforementioned change has also brought about a shuffle in the formation, with the Chelsea boss reverting to the 4-2-3-1. Kepa Arrizabalaga retains his place in goal ahead of Willy Caballero as expected.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who started as part of the back-three in the midweek will reprise the right-back role against Southampton, with Marcos Alonso deployed on the opposite flank. Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori form the central defensive partnership, leaving Andreas Christensen on the bench.

The positive update is that N’Golo Kante is fit enough to start consecutive games for Chelsea for the first time since August. Kante has Chelsea vice-captain Jorginho for company in the midfield double pivot. The only change in the side sees Callum Hudson-Odoi coming in for Reece James.

Hudson-Odoi makes his first Premier League start of the season, starting on the left side of the Chelsea attack, with Willian lining up on the opposite wing. Mason Mount is back in his favoured no. 10 role, while Tammy Abraham leads the line against Southampton.

Chelsea Starting XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Tomori, Zouma, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho; Willian, Mount, Hudson-Odoi; Abraham
