Brandon Williams makes his full debut for Manchester United, who will be skippered by David de Gea, as they get set to take on AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made eight changes to the side that started against Arsenal earlier this week, for Manchester United’s second UEFA Europa League fixture against AZ Alkmaar in the City of The Hague.

Surprisingly, David de Gea starts as the Manchester United goalkeeper ahead of Sergio Romero, who has usually been preferred in the Europa League and cup fixtures. De Gea has also been handed the armband by Solskjaer. Another notable omission is Axel Tuanzebe, with Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof forming the central defensive partnership.

Diogo Dalot and Brandon Williams are the two full-backs, with Williams making his full debut for Manchester United. Nemanja Matic and Fred start in the midfield double pivot, while Juan Mata is the senior figure in attack.

Mason Greenwood returns to lead the line for Manchester United, as expected. Angel Gomes will reprise the no. 10 role, with Daniel James completing the lineup, starting on the left. Romero, Tuanzebe, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard, Tahith Chong and Marcus Rashford are the options on the bench.

Manchester United Starting XI: de Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Rojo, Williams; Matic, Fred; Mata, Gomes, James; Greenwood
