Mason Greenwood makes his senior European debut while Nemanja Matic will be the Manchester United skipper in their UEFA Europa League opener against Astana.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rung in the changes as the fixture pile-up begins for Manchester United. The manager has retained just two players who were a part of the starting lineup last weekend against Leicester City for the UEFA Europa League group game versus Astana.

The changes begin right at the back, with Sergio Romero taking his place in goal for Manchester United. Lee Grant is Romero’s deputy, meaning David de Gea has been rested altogether. There is a new look backline as well.

Diogo Dalot and Marcos Rojo are the two full-backs while Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones form the central defensive partnership. Up ahead in midfield, Nemanja Matic is one of the two players retained from the weekend by Solskjaer.

Matic will, in fact, don the armband for Manchester United against Astana, with Fred being his partner in the double pivot. The attacking midfield line is adorned by Manchester United academy products, with Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes all starting in the Europa League for the first time. Marcus Rashford leads the line against Astana.

Manchester United Starting XI: Romero; Dalot, Tuanzebe, Jones, Rojo; Matic, Fred; Chong, Gomes, Greenwood; Rashford
