Midfielder N’Golo Kante has been passed fit to start Chelsea’s UEFA Super Cup encounter against Liverpool in Istanbul.

Chelsea have opted to start N’Golo Kante for their UEFA Super Cup clash against fellow Premier League giants Liverpool. There had been significant doubts surrounding the Frenchman’s involvement after manager Frank Lampard revealed that he had picked up an injury at the weekend. But, the midfielder has been passed fit to start.

Kante joins Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic in a three-man midfield for Chelsea, which marks a shift from the 4-2-3-1 formation that Lampard has looked to use since taking over at the club. Youngster Mason Mount drops down to the bench for the Blues.

There are no changes in defence though, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Emerson Palmieri all keeping their places in the lineup in front of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Antonio Rudiger is back from injury and is among the substitutes.

New signing Christian Pulisic is set to make his full debut for Chelsea, starting out on the left side of the attack, in place of Ross Barkley, who featured against Manchester United. Pedro keeps his place on the right flank, while Tammy Abraham has been replaced by Olivier Giroud as the Blues’ striker.

Chelsea Confirmed Lineup (4-3-3): Kepa; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Pedro, Giroud, Pulisic
