EA have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has become the highest rated player in the soon-to-be-released FIFA 17, displacing Lionel Messi.

EA Sports confirmed, on their official website, as part of their ratings revelation for FIFA 17, that Cristiano Ronaldo has become the best-rated player in the soon-to-be-released latest iteration of the popular video game series displacing Lionel Messi, who has been sitting on the throne for a long time.

The video game developers’ twitter handle also tweeted the news with player cards showing Neymar, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as #3, 2 and 1 respectively.

Twitter went into meltdown with some fans backing Cristiano Ronaldo’s placement and being happy at his #1 position while also providing valid reasons for the Portuguese to dethrone Lionel Messi.

While others took to the social media platform to show their dissent at Lionel Messi’s drop to the number 2 position.

It does seem justified given the recent achievements of Cristiano Ronaldo compared to Lionel Messi. Although, one could make a case for Lionel Messi in the fact that EA ratings are supposed to be based on individual performances and skill rather than competitive achievements. Twitter-verse seems fairly divided in their opinion and The Hard Tackle will let you decide which side you would prefer to be on.
