Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Both teams began the game on the front foot and gave the fans an exciting contest to witness. Liverpool dominated the early proceedings as they controlled the play, but Spurs were up to it and matched their opposition’s willingness to attack.
It took 43 minutes for the first goal of the game to come. Makeshift left-back James Milner slotted home a penalty after Roberto Firmino was brought down in the penalty area. Liverpool held on to the lead for a while but eventually ended up squandering their advantage.
Spurs left-back Danny Rose stepped up to the occasion and scored the equaliser from an Erik Lamela cross to ensure that his side would not leave the game empty handed.
Here’s how the game panned out on Twitter:
Kane trying to playmake over and over again takes him away from what he does best. He had a grand total of 0 shots on goal. #TOTLIV

Bit disappointing not to win but I’d still take a point happily from WHL… #TOTLIV

Easy to say ref gave some wrong decisions, disallowed goal, but at the end of the day we didnt put away any of our chances either #TOTLIV

You’ll never fully appreciate how good Danny Rose is until you see him live

Danny Rose is establishing himself as a brilliant left back. Very good defensively and dangerous going forward. Plays with so much energy.

Milner, the ever willing makeshift left back, makes it 1-0 Liverpool.

James Milner smashes it into the corner. He’ll celebrate that with a nice cheese sandwich and a glass of room temperature water tonight.

Say what you want about Milner playing left back
He’s a good honest pro
if you stuck him in goal or up front
He’d do a good honest job

Coutinho was berated for an abysmal performance:
When Coutinho has a chance to pass pic.twitter.com/EYbAd1whvu

Coutinho missed a sitter . Now booked . The little magician killing my fantasy
— Joshua Windass (@WindassJnr) August 27, 2016
Genuinely embarrassing for anyone to mention Coutinho in the same breath as the likes of Bale/Neymar
— Joe (@JT1878) August 27, 2016
You guys are lucky Coutinho doesn’t like to pass or we would have 10
