In Tottenham Hotspur’s first pre-season game of 2016/17, manager Mauricio Pochettino has decided to start with new signings Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama.

The International Champions Cup is an ideal platform for new signings to showcase their worth to their managers and demonstrate why they were signed by their respective clubs. With Tottenham Hotspur set to take on Serie A giants Juventus, there are two new faces in the Spurs lineup in Janssen and Wanyama. The former’s proficiency in the Dutch Eredivisie has earned him a move to White Hart Lane, while the latter has been brought in due to his impressive performances in the Premier League for the last couple of seasons.

Michel Vorm starts in goal for the English side, with a young centre-back pairing of Dominic Ball and Cameron Carter-Vickers ahead of him. Ryan Mason is set to captain the side and form a double-pivot alongside Wanyama in midfield. Belgian Nacer Chadli is given the nod to start and is expected to take up a role on the left wing, with Heung-Min Son on the opposite flank. Tom Carroll is expected to play off number nine Janssen, who has the unenviable task of having to prove that he is a better strike option than Harry Kane.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has opted to field Brazilian goalkeeper Neto ahead of long-serving number one Gianluigi Buffon. In defence, new signing Medhi Benatia is given the nod to start and will be at the heart of a back three comprising of Pol Lirola and Daniele Rugani. Further up the field, former AS Roma sensation Miralem Pjanic is also part of the starting lineup. Paulo Dybala, whose club future is doing the rounds on the rumour mill, leads the line for the Old Lady.
