Liverpool kicked off their pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Championship side Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
Reds’ striker Danny Ings and 16-year-old academy graduate Benjamin Woodburn were the two heroes of the match, as they scored the two goals that gave Liverpool the victory.
However, there was a fair bit of conspiracy theory going around before the match, as Wigan had played another friendly (against Manchester United), just a day before.
Funny how this game had been penned in for ages and uniteds game with them yesterday was short notice. #LFC

While Liverpool found it hard to break Wigan down initially, victory soothed most of the nerves though, as the Reds’ fans started rejoicing on Twitter. Here are some of the best reactions after Liverpool’s win.

Good to hear that Matip’s injury hopefully isn’t very serious. He’s a tank at the back. A good game again today too. #WIGLIV #LFC

16-year-old Benjamin Woodburn was the star of the show though, as he dished out a calm and composed performance for the Reds, even managing to score a goal.
Like the look of woodburn, only 16 aswell, looks very composed on the ball and a cool finish #WIGLIV

However, not all Liverpool fans were too happy with the result. While some complained about the club’s static transfer policy, others rued their “lack of sharpness” up front.
No more big signings then.. another 5th-6th finish this year. @liverpool @LFC #WIGLIV https://t.co/8jhryjqiTH

What’s the point bringing 2 subs on in a friendly, with only 2 mins left?!…..at least give ’em 10 so they get a touch.#WIGLIV

Stephen Warnock praising #Lucas, but no mention to how many free-kicks he gives away, & how many bookings he picks up#WIGLIV

Although #LFC win over #WIG for #WIGLIV
I felt that #Liverpool‘s attack lack in sharpness..
