FC Pune opt for horizontal jersey stripes for season 3 of the ISL

On Friday, the Rajesh Wadhawan Group and Hrithik Roshan co-owned Indian Super League club FC Pune City unveiled their new look home and away kit for the 2016 season of Indian Super League.

Head Coach Antonio Habas, marquee player Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jonathan Lucca, Edel Bete, Bruno Arias, Gouramangi Singh, Arata Izumi, Lenny Rodrigues and Sanju Pradhan were all in presence at the atrium six, Phoenix Market City, Pune.

FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said the new look kit reflects our positive intent this season. He said:

“The new kit resonates the club’s intentions of ‘Play To Win’. The jersey will give our fans the closest experience of being a part of the club, almost like a second skin to the true blue fans of our club.

“To be the best you have to be with the best, and our kit partners adidas, with this new design, have once again proved why they are the best in the business.”

Pune will begin their campaign at home to cross-state rivals Mumbai City FC. In the corresponding fixture last season, it was the team in orange and purple that managed to prevail by a 3-1 scoreline.

Newly appointed head-coach Antonio Lopez Habas will be looking to get kickstart his reign at the helm and will hope to replicate the success he acheived at Kolkata with his new employers.

Delhi Dynamos end their pre-season on a winning note

ISL side Delhi Dynamos rounded off their pre-season with a 3-2 win against local Swedish side Assyriska BK. Marquee player Florent Malouda was in action for the Dynamos and also found the back of the net for his side.

The former Chelsea winger opened the scoring in the 36th after lashing onto an exquisite cross played by Marcelo. However, a few minutes later they found themselves conceding a cynical goal to Assyriska’s Ahrun Cicek.

In the second period, it was Delhi who drew first blood through a 53rd minute striker from Kean Lewis. The 23-year-old made a blistering solo run before calmly slotting the ball past the opposition goalkeeper.

Arjun Tudu added another for the Dynamos with a powerful header in the 83rd minute. The Indian side looked set to win the contest 3-1 but Mihael Jevtic pulled one back for the home team in the dying stages of the contest.

After the game, Delhi Dynamos coach Gianluca Zambrotta said: “It’s been a satisfying outing for us and I am happy that the team is gelling in well and the communication on and off the field is strong. The results of this was seen in our match today where all the boys linked in well to ensure we were ahead of them throughout the game.

“I am glad we are set to begin our season back home in the Hero ISL on a high. Like I have said before, the only goal for Delhi Dynamos FC this season would be to bring home the winner’s trophy.”
