After a successful period under Marcelo Lippi, Juventus would enter a slump in 2003/04 season. The Bianconeri finished a distant third behind champions Milan and runners-up AS Roma and also suffered a meek exit in Champions League. One of the lowest points that season was probably the 4-0 thrshing Juventus received at Rome. The match in Turin had ended 2-2 thanks to a late equalizer from Jonathan Zebina. AS Roma started strongly in front of their home fans as Olivier Dacourt opened the scoring on 13th minute. The score remained 1-0 at half-time but Juventus fans were not prepared for what was coming their way in second half. A Francesco Totti penalty put Roma 2-0 up by 53rd minute but the real turning point came three minutes later as the mercurial Paolo Montero was sent off.
