Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been handed a one-match touchline ban for being sent off in his side’s 0-0 draw against Burnley over the weekend. Referee Mark Clattenburg sent the Portuguese manager to the stands for an incident that took place ‘in or around the tunnel area during half-time’, BBC can report. The FA also fined him a nominal fee of £8,000 and will cause him to miss the game against Swansea. Mourinho has also been charged with a mammoth £50,000 bill for the comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor prior to United’s clash against Liverpool. This decision of the FA saw fans began to rant against the governing body and standing in favour of Mourinho: Why does mourinho get fined and touchline ban but nothing for Marc clattenburg so they can get away with it @SkySportsNewsHQ joke unfair — ricki kenny-hyde (@RickiKenny) November 2, 2016 £50,000 fine for Mourinho. This is just absurd. Victimization at its peak. — IBOM […]

Danny Ings was dealt a cruel injury blow once again after being effectively ruled out for another  season owing to a ligament tear he suffered after a tackle during Liverpool’s EFL Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur Danny Ings has been at Liverpool for well over a year now, but one can finger-count the number of games he has played for the Reds. That is how unlucky the Englishman’s luck with injuries has been since his arrival at Anfield. The 24-year-old only recently recovered from an ACL injury that ruled him out of last season’s action and made his return to competitive first-team action only last week. Twitter was swarmed with commiserations for the striker from all quarters of the footballing community, in particular the Liverpool fans, who were really taken into the striker’s character, passion for the club and work ethic from his early days at the club. My hatred for Liverpool doesn’t stop me feeling sorry for Danny Ings. […]

Barcelona were dished out a dose of their own medicine as Pep Guardiola managed to beat the ‘demons’ he created, for the first time as Manchester City boss. The signs were there for all to see a couple of weeks ago at the Camp Nou. Although Barcelona thumped City by a resounding 4-0 margin, the final score wasn’t a fair reflection of how the game actually transpired. While it was some poor defensive errors that caused the damage, City looked threatening on the attack and would’ve stood a good chance of taking something away from the game had they converted their goal-scoring opportunities. And based on last night’s heroics, it’d be fair to say that Pep Guardiola’s side learnt a thing or two from their Camp Nou escapade. The Citizens upstaged the Blaugrana at the Etihad by an emphatic 3-1 margin in an encounter that progressed similar to the game two weeks ago. As in the earlier tie, Barcelona took […]

Blues’ fans were overjoyed as Chelsea breezed past Southampton with a comfortable two goal victory with wonderful goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard in each half. It took the Blues a mere 5 minutes to take the lead at St. Mary’s with a wonderful goal by Eden Hazard. Manchester United manger Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands during their game against Burnley even as his team failed to find a way past the Clarets.   Mourinho has a chequered past with match officials and he was once again punished by them during the game. The Portuguese manager was sent to the stands after allegedly having an altercation with referee Mark Clattenburg at half time. As if this wasn’t enough, his team then failed to win the game. This left the Red Devils with just 15 points from their opening 10 games. Needless to say, fans and critics on Twitter took this opportunity to give Mourinho a piece of their minds. Manchester United failed to score a goal against Burnley despite their complete domination, with striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in particular guilty of missing some gilt-edged opportunities.    The 35-year-old is considered to be one of the most predatory finishers in football, but he managed to scuff some excellent opportunities to put his team in front. Ibrahimovic had a whopping 12 shots on goal. While some of them were denied by the excellent Burnley keeper Tom Heaton, a few of them were disasters of Zlatan’s own making. After the game, fans on Twitter started comparing him to everyone from Fernando Torres to Nicklas Bendtner. Many Man United fans also opined that youngster Marcus Rashford should be given the opportunity to start up front instead of Zlatan. Philippe Coutinho enjoyed arguably one of his best games in a Liverpool shirt in the Reds’ thrilling 4-2 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. Liverpool have been rampant going forward this season and a significant chunk of the creative mind behind all the goals that have transpired has been Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian once again showcased that at Selhurst Park on Saturday with a superlative performance assisting two goals and could have had a couple on the score sheet as well had it not been for Mandanda’s save. The little magician has come into his own in recent years and has begun to establish a level of consistency that was previously absent in his game. It’s hence no surprise that the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are being linked with the Brazilian. Philippe Coutinho now has more Premier League assists (6) in 2016 than Eden Hazard and Mesut Ozil combined (5). pic.twitter.com/3HvX2tVKPA — Squawka Football (@Squawka) October 29, 2016 […]

Liverpool kept pace with leaders Manchester City and Arsenal as they took the honours against Crystal Palace in a six-goal thriller at Selhurst Park. In a frenzied encounter at Selhurst Park, Liverpool came through 4-2 victors in a six-goal thriller over Crystal Palace as they continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League to stay with the Arsenal and Manchester City at the top. It was a defensive horror-show from both sides on the night as 4 of the six goals went through in the first thirty minutes itself and could have well been avoided had the back-line been a little more solid. The game was reminiscent of Liverpool’s memorable encounters last season against Borussia Dortmund and Norwich City when they won 4-3 and 5-4 respectively. The Reds took the lead in the 16th minute through a slick move finished off by Emre Can for his first goal of the season. Coutinho sent in a ball into the box where […]

The men in Sky Blue produced an emphatic performance to put an end to their recent string of poor results, with Aguero and Gundogan earning the plaudits for their contribution to the scoreline. Manchester City’s win-less run finally came to end thanks a brace each by both striker Sergio Aguero and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. Pep Guardiola got his tactics spot on as the visitors constantly found themselves in good goal-scoring areas, making most of West Brom’s poor defensive shape. However, the contest showed there’s still room for improvement for Manchester City as the home team troubled the Citizens with their high pressing and direct play for a good part of the second half. On any other day, West Brom could have converted one or two of their chances. The Twiteratti, not surprisingly, couldn’t stop gushing about Aguero and Gundogan after their display today: Aguero is just 🔥 — DANNY B (@DJDannyBUK) October 29, 2016 Aguero easily the best striker in […]

Arsenal put in one of their performances of the season as they ran riot over Sunderland, winning 4-1. Alexis Sanchez and super-sub Olivier Giroud both recorded braces as the Gunners ended the day as table toppers. However, French midfielder Francis Coquelin was heavily under scrutiny for his overall showing in the game. Due to the absence of Santi Cazorla and Granit Xhaka, the Arsenal midfield had a makeshift look, featuring Mohamed Elneny alongside the Frenchman. But with both being holding midfielders, the duo struggled in alternating the holding and box-to-box roles between the two. Coquelin managed to find himself with the sight of goal on a number of occasions but did nothing to trouble the opposition defence. He also made a number of cynical challenges and was duly a topic for discussion on social media. Take a look: Coquelin’s life flashed before him as he ran through on goal. — Squid Boy (@TheSquidBoyLike) October 29, 2016 I got so excited […]
