Manchester United qualified for the group stage of UEFA Champions League following a stunning hat-trick from forward Wayne Rooney.
Manchester United beat Club Brugges 7-1 on aggregate after sealing a 4-0 win in Belgium. The star of the show was captain Wayne Rooney who stuck a marvelous hat-trick. Rooney had, off late, come under increased criticism for his poor goal-scoring form.
The star striker, however, took the game by the scruff of its neck and demolished the Brugges defence to end a 9 month long wait for an away goal.
Manager Louis van Gaal, who had praised the forward for admitting his poor goal-scoring form, ended up praising him for his performance this time.
