His team might have lost the match 4-2 at the hands of the Nigerians in the U-17 World Cup but Diego Cortes scored a goal that will always shine bright in his curriculum vitae.

It seems that Mexico has the next great in young Diego, as Cortes’ goal had an uncanny resemblance to a goal by another Diego (Maradona) against England, in the 1986 World Cup.

Cortes dribbled past five defenders and slotted the ball past a rushing goalkeeper, to level the scores at 2-2 for his country. There is a stark resemblance to the famous Maradona goal in which the Argentine great dribbled past four England defenders to score the ‘Goal of the Century’.
