Liverpool FC’s A?20 million “flop” Lazar Markovic yesterday ran through the entire Besiktas team in the Turkish league for his side Fenerbahce.
Even though Markovic’s incredible run could not lead to a goal, it was evidence of electric speed and skill the Serbian possesses, that made Liverpool spent that sort of cash on him last summer. After an underwhelming first year at Anfield, the 21-year-old was loaned out to the Turkish side to develop himself.
Markovic, although inconsistent, has been impressive in patches and yesterday’s incredible run is evidence of the potential that the 21-year-old has. The Serbian got the ball in his own half and burst through from there evading challenges of the Besiktas players, before putting in a delightful cross which evaded his teammate by inches.
