Manchester City and England goalkeeper Joe Hart was left red-faced after his blunder allowed Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome to level the scores at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday
Nobody at the Etihad Stadium would have been more relieved to watch Yaya Tour ‘s penalty hitting the back of the net than Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, whose clanger late in the second half allowed Norwich City to equalise in bizarre fashion.
The England No 1 inexplicably dropped Robbie Brady’s poor cross straight into the path of Norwich striker Cameron Jerome, who could not possibly miss the target from a couple of yards out.
Fortunately for the Citizens, their lead was restored close to full time thanks to a blunder from the Canaries’ keeper John Ruddy. The Englishman allowed himself to be drawn out of his line due to a poor touch, only for defender Russell Martin to use his hand when trying to save a shot that was destined to go into the back of net, conceding a penalty in the process.
Ivory Coast international Yaya Tour stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, with Manuel Pellegrini’s men running out 2-1 winners and retaining their spot at the top of the English Premier League table.
