Former Real Madrid teammate David Beckham confirmed the reason behind the absence of France legend Zinedine Zidane from the UNICEF charity match at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Friday the 13th was a terrifying ordeal for the French, as Paris fell victim to a major terrorist attack which reportedly left more than 140 dead and many more injured. The climate was hardly right for Zidane to lead the Rest of the World XI against the David Beckham led Great Britain and Ireland XI in the pre-organised exhibition match.

The French football genius found it hard to come to terms with the events of Friday, as he excused himself from the match. Former teammate Beckham was seen explaining to the media the reason behind Zidanea s sudden absence from the match.
