We know Alexis Sanchez as the top class Arsenal FC football player that he is today. 12 years ago though, the Chilean was struggling — not on the football pitch, but financially.
In an interview with beIN Sport, Sanchez describes his younger days, when he had to play football barefoot as his family could not afford to buy him a pair of shoes to play with.
However, the young Chilean excelled with the ball at his feet, even when he was playing barefoot. He describes in this interview how the Mayor of his hometown Tocopilla gave him his first pair of boots when he was 14 and how happy he was at getting this unexpected gift.
What did he do after he got this little present from the Mayor? Watch the interview below to find out.
