Louis van Gaal has revealed that David de Gea was left out of Manchester Uniteda s pre-season win over Club America because he of an injury.

De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. So, when Manchester United beat Club America 1-0 in their opening pre-season game and the goalkeeper was nowhere to be seen, it raised further doubts over his future.

Reserve goalkeepers Anders Lindegaard and Sam Johnstone played 45 minutes each in the International Champions Cup pre-season clash instead of the Spaniard.

Absence due to injury

However, Louis Van Gaal insists there is no reason by a minor injury that had kept De Gea from playing.

Van Gaal said: a De Gea and Valenica were injured with minor injuries. We cannot take any risks in the preparation.

No Ramos, no De Gea

Whilst Manchester United have resigned themselves to lose De Gea, they will let the player go for free next year than sell him to Real Madrid unless they get Sergio Ramos as per the BBC.

The report says:

Manchester United are prepared to lose more than A?25m and let goalkeeper David De Gea leave for free next summer rather than give in to Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old will only be sold to the Spanish giants as part of a swap deal, with defender Sergio Ramos, 29, joining United.

The club see Real as acting “like bullies” and, with their own revenue soaring, are intent on “slugging it out” with Real for the best players.

But while United and manager Louis van Gaal know there is no chance of persuading De Gea to remain at Old Trafford beyond 2016, they are adamant they will not part with their two-time player of the year other than on their terms.

Well, it does seem that David De Gea is here to stay for another year, especially given that Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez recently ruled out sale of Sergio Ramos, with the player also reportedly interested in staying put.
