New signing of Real Madrid, Lucas Silva, has expressed his satisfaction over a move to his ‘dream’ club and said that he feels up for the challenge.

Real Madrid signed midfielder Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro for 12 million euros. The midfielder is widely considered as one of the most promising youngsters of Brazilian football.

Lucas Silva said in his first interview after becoming a Real Madrid player that it is the biggest club in the world and he is ready to meet the expectations of Los Blancos’ fans.

“I’m really excited. It’s a dream come true,” said Lucas Silva. He was speaking to Spanish daily Marca.

“Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world, but I feel up for the challenge and I’m really excited. I know I’m going to a club where there’s a lot of competition, who play in a very tough league and the Champions League, but I’m ready for all of that.”

Lucas Silva also said that he is in a good physical condition and is ready to play. “Just now I was in the pre-season at my club, but I’m in great physical shape. I think I’ll be ready for the manager after two training sessions to settle in, but I’ll have to arrive, get down to work, and then the coaching staff will decide. I’m really keen to play.”

The new Real Madrid acquisition also expressed his desire to get 16 number jersey. He said: “I’d like to wear 16, which is what I wore at Cruzeiro and is my favourite number, but I don’t know if it’ll be possible. Anyway, whatever number I’m given is fine; all I really care about is playing.”

Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has also praised new signing Lucas Silva. Carlo Ancelotti said that Lucas Silva is a quality player and he will succeed at Real Madrid.

“I see the Lucas Silva signing as a positive thing. He is a very good player and is still young. He is going to help us because he has a lot of quality and is an intelligent player. He is going to be a very useful for us this season”.
