Real Madrid CF star Karim Benzema has been arrested by the French police, on Wednesday, for his alleged connection with a sex-tape blackmail case, of his fellow French International Mathieu Valbuena.
The reports of Valbuena being blackmailed over sex tapes was circulated for the first time, earlier this year in July, which is when former Liverpool FC striker Djibril Cisse was brought in for questioning.

Now however, after Benzema’s name has re-surfaced on the case again and again, the French International has been brought in by the police, according to French news agency Agence France-Presse.
Local police prosecutors told the AFP, that the Real Madrid CF striker arrived in Versailles, on Wednesday morning. The reports also say that the Frenchman had in fact, been taken into judicial custody, before being arrested for further questioning.
Cops yet to figure out whether Benzema was directly or indirectly involved
It is not clear whether Benzema was himself directly involved in the blackmail or not. However, according to AFP, the French striker was either “teasing” Valbuena, or trying to make the Marseilles player pay the blackmailers, who had allegedly received the tape with the assistance of someone related to the Frenchman.
At any rate, the France international faces around five years in prison, if found guilty of extortion, which could spell disaster for the 27-year-old’s football career.
