Liverpool FC midfielder Lucas Leiva has revealed that he was close to leaving the Reds this season, but is now fully committed to the Merseyside giants.

Lucas’ name has been constantly linked with an exit from Liverpool FC over the past few seasons. Inter Milan and Besiktas are the teams that the Brazil midfielder has been linked with off late, and the player was close to joining Besiktas on loan in the current transfer window as per reports.

However, following injury to Jordan Henderson, Lucas played the Arsenal FC game for the Reds and had a typical combative evening to help shut out the Gunners.

Lucas reveals he was close to leaving

Lucas has admitted that he was close to leaving Liverpool, but says that he is now very much committed to the cause at Anfield.

a Ita s been very intense [the window], to be honest,a he said.

a I think the last couple of years, every transfer window my name is [linked with a move].

a Of course there are times when you think you might have to move on and I was very close to moving but one thing I will always have is commitment to this club.

a Ia ve been here so long and I always said if I had the choice to be here and be happy, I would always choose Liverpool.

a When your future is in doubt, you might have to think of another solution, but Ia m happy that it didna t happen and Ia m here to fight for the club as I have been doing for eight years.

a Ia m just looking forward to a good season and putting Liverpool back where it belongs. I have this chance to say Ia m fully committed.a
