Liverpool are in a good position to sign PSG’s left-back Lucas Digne, indicate reports in France.

Liverpool are leading the race to sign PSGa s young left back Lucas Digne in the summer, indicate reports from France Football.

The Reds have been linked with the youngster in the last few weeks, but aren’t the only interested club. The 21-year-old is also a target of AS Roma as well as Valencia, who were so far said to be holding the aces in the player’s pursuit.

It is Liverpool now, who look to be in the strongest position to sign the 21 year-old according to France Football, who are one of the more reliable media outlets in France. Digne could cost Liverpool around a 12m. The player has a contract with PSG till 2018.

Digne began his career at Lille where after his debut in 2011, he made around 60 appearances. In 2013, PSG signed the youngster from their rivals for a sum of around a 15 million.

This season, Digne only featured 14 times in Ligue 1 for PSG, as Maxwell enjoyed a fantastic season on the left flank for the Parisians. The Frenchman needs to move to a club where he will feature more and enjoy first team football.

Liverpool could be the club for him as Brendan Rodgers seems to want competition for Alberto Moreno. Moreno was brought from Sevilla last summer for a sum near a 15 million. Much was expected from the Spaniard and while he hasn’t been a “flop”, his performances haven’t particularly impressed on a number of occasions. Getting another youngster with a lot of potential will only prove to be better for both the club and Moreno who would be on his toes to perform better. With Jose Enrique’s future at the club uncertain, it makes sense for the Merseysiders to add another player for the position and PSG’s Digne might prove to be the ideal candidate.

The report claims Liverpool are in a strong position for the player and while these might just be rumors, it will be encouraging for the Reds fans if this were true.
