Liverpool FC target Fernando Llorente wants to stay at Juventus next season.
The Telegraph reported on Saturday that Liverpool had cooled their interest in Christian Benteke and instead had lined up Carlos Bacca and Fernando Llorente as alternatives to the Belgian.
The report stated that Juventus will try to hold out for as much as a 20a million (A?14.3a million) for Llorente, but he could be sold for lesser than that sum.
Llorente’s future at Juventus has been under some doubt for a while. Even with the imminent departure of Carlos Tevez, Juventus have gone and bought two strikers – Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic. They already have Alvaro Morata within their ranks, a player that will feature way more next season after his late season heroics. Llorente could be fourth choice behind the aforementioned players and it makes sense for clubs to show interest in the player who looks receded to the bench, at best, next season.
Llorente however, has gone on record to state that he wants to stay at Juventus next season.
a Right now my intention is to stay at Juve,a Llorente told Mediaset.
a Ia ll have to talk to the club and see what they tell me. Monaco? I dona t know anything about that, Ia ve just got married so Ia m going on my honeymoon.
a Tevez? Leta s see if hea ll go, if he does everyone will be sorry, because hea s a great guy and a great striker.
a There will be a lot of changes, wea ll see what happens.a
Fernando Llorente has enjoyed some great seasons in his footballing career but he has failed to do too well since his move to Juventus. The 30 year-old scored 9 goals and grabbed a solitary assist in 40 games (12 substitute appearances) for Juve. Llorente could rejuvenate his career at Anfield but the 30 year-old certainly doesna t look like he would be an ideal choice for a first choice striker at the moment. He bettered all of Liverpoola s strikers last term but it is highly unlikely that the Liverpool owners would spend in double figures for a 30 year-old who failed to hit double figures last season.
