Two goals from Luis Suarez helped FC Barcelona to secure a memorable victory against Man City, a 2-1 win that leaves them within touching distance of a place in the Champions League quarter finals. However, Luis Suarez, the hero of Barcaa s victory, has said that the tie is still open.

FC Barcelona played aggressive football for the entire 90 minutes. That was not surprising as far as the Catalans are concerned but Man City surprised everybody with their attacking approach. But the attacking threat of FC Barcelona proved too good to defend for Man City as Luis Suarez put the Catalans ahead in the 16th minute, with the help of a mistake by Vincent Kompany.

Brilliant move by Messi and an excellent pass from Jordi Alba helped Luis Suarez and FC Barcelona to double their tally and virtually seal their progression into the quarter finals of Champions League in the 31st minute.

Man City did came back strongly in the second half and a goal from Kun Aguero opened a window of opportunity for them but FC Barcelona defenders handled the pressure well to keep Citizens at Bay. Messi got a glorious opportunity to score the third goal for FC Barcelona in the dying moments of the match but he missed the penalty and a simple chance to score through a rebound header.

FC Barcelona already have one feet into the quarter finals of Champions League but Luis Suarez has said that the tie is still open.

a I dona t know if it would have decided the game. These things happen,a Luis Suarez said. a It meant something to return to England. I think in the first half we had a very good game and we were able to score.

a In the second they came out very well and at 2-1 they were back in the game. Theya re a team of great quality in midfield and attack.

a The game is still open with the return leg, but wea re FC Barcelona.a

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique also praised the display of his players after the match. Luis Enrique also played down the importance of penalty blunder by Leo Messi.

a Only those who dare to take a penalty can fail,a Luis Enrique told Marca.

a Ia d give the team a very high rating. We have been better than our opponent with a first half at a very good level, but we need to win at home.

a The week of the return leg isna t any different [despite the Clasico coming shortly after] because the goal is to win regardless of the result here. All of Citya s players are internationals and wea re facing a very difficult tie.a

a There are some aspects to improve but I want to congratulate the players for their performance and attitude on the pitch.a
