Chelsea FC’s star midfielder Eden Hazard has suggested that he would be glad if Jose Mourinho ropes in Aston Villa’s Belgian striker Christian Benteke this summer.
Christian Benteke’s future at Villa Park is under speculation as several top clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on signing him. The striker himself had spoke a few days back about leaving the club to play Champions League football.
Eden Hazard sounded extremely happy about the fact that his compatriot might join him at the Blues this summer. He was quoted saying: If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world.
“I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him. Christian is 25. He is at an age where he has to make a good career choice.
“Not that Aston Villa is a small club but he has already played many great games and can now play in the Champions League.”
Chelsea is set to part ways with their vetran striker Didier Drogba this season, who had joined the club last season for a one year contract. In this circumstances, the Premier League champions will look forward to roping in a new striker who can act as a cover for Deigo Costa.
Christian Benteke had scored 13 goals this season for Aston Villa in 29 Premier League appearances. He is 25 years old and might prove to be a great replacement for Drogba who had just managed to score 2 goals. Chelsea are also . considering a move for Radamel Falcao who had left Manchester United at the end of this season.
Though Chelsea will have to meet the buy out clause of Benteke which is A?32.5million to get him for Villa Park, it is worth spending that kind of money for a striker who can guarantee 15 or more goals in a season. Falcao on the other hand had a nightmare debut season for Manchester United where he managed to score just 4 goals in the entire season.
The graphic gives us an idea about the performances of Radamel Falcao and Christian Benteke last season. It clearly points out that buying Benteke instead of Falcao will be a much better move for Chelsea.
