Veteran Holland forward and Liverpool fan-favorite Dirk Kuyt has emerged as a serious target for Catalan giants FC Barcelona as per local paper Sport.

Kuyt acquired cult status are Liverpool FC, having become fan-favorite with his ability to score in crucial games. The player was nicknamed the ‘Duracell Bunny’ for his relentless work-ethic.

The forward then moved on to Fenerbahce, before completing his move to boyhood club Feyenoord in the summer.

The 35 year old forward has already scored four times in seven games for the Dutch giants, with FC Barcelona seriously considering signing him, as per reports in Sport, in order to add depth to their squad.

The report also mentions that the Catalans are looking at Red Bull Salzburg’s Jonathan Soriano, Valencia’s Alvaro Negredo and Al Rayyan SC’s Sergio Garc a as possible new signings alongside Kuyt with a hope to emulate their hugely successful signing of Swedish veteran Henrik Larsson back in 2004.

Larsson became an invaluable player in the Frank Rijkaard’s European Cup winning squad, besides also winning two La Liga titles in his two seasons at Camp Nou.

Kuyt’s leadership, experience, work-ethic and his team-oriented outlook, along with the fact that he will come cheap fits perfectly in the requirement of the Catalans who will be looking to sign an attacking player as a backup.

As for the other candidates, Negredo has not been in the best of form, having scored just once in seven games for Valencia across all competition.

Jonathan Soriano and Sergio Garcia, both, have been former Barca B players and the former has been in super form for the Austrian side, scoring goals for fun.

Sergio Garcia does represents the riskiest of all three options, playing in a league in which it is difficult to asses his level of performances.
