FC Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has confirmed that the club want to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba despite the current transfer ban with Chelsea FC and Manchester United still tracking the player.

The transfer ban, which means the players can sign contracts with FC Barcelona but cannot be registered, means that if FC Barcelona managed to sign Pogba, he will only be able to play for the club from January and until then can only train with his team mates.

But despite that, FC Barcelona want to move in and secure the player who is being tracked by all the big guns in European Football, especially Manchester United and Chelsea FC.

Bartomeu told Telefoot: “It is true that Pogba is a leading target of ours and obviously we are interested, but I can’t say anything more.”

“We are forbidden to recruit players until January, so I can’t talk about it.”

However, Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta insisted Pogba would remain at the club and not move to FC barcelona: “Juventus wants to win the Champions League next season and Pogba is an important player. He will be here next season for sure, 100 per cent.”

Pogba, meanwhile, gave away nothing when asked for a response to the interest from FC Barcelona: “I don’t even think about anything else while I’m at Juve. It’s nice to be asked but I’m not going to stop working for my club.”

Pogba was on the losing side in the Champions League final which meant that FC Barcelona won a treble for the second time in 6 years.

Despite the trophy haul, the future of manager Luis Enrique is doubtful with reports claiming that he could be sacked following the presidential elections due next.

Enrique himself confirmed his future was unsure and was quoted saying: a The truth is that my future is uncertain. For now, though, everything is happiness.a

FC Barcelona are on the verge of completing one signing – Seville’s 22 year old Spanish international Aleix Vidal for 10 million Euros despite the FIFA transfer ban with the player ready to wait till January to play for the club as per . reports.

The Pogba saga is an interesting one with FC Barcelona surely looking to fill the hole that will be left behind by Xavi in the long run.
