Agent of Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech has refused to rule out a move to Arsenal FC, although he did dismiss rumours linking him to Inter.
The 33-year-old goalkeepera s future at Stamford Bridge has come under a lot of speculations. The rise of Thibaut Courtois pushed Cech to a role on the bench last season and the Czech international wants to leave the club in search of regular first team action.
Chelseaa s London rivals Arsenal have been linked with a move for Cech this summer. The general consensus is that the Gunners have never really had a world class player in goal since the departure of David Seaman. Wojciech Szczesny has failed to live up to his potential so far and has largely been inconsistent in goal; moreover his off the field antics has been questioned as well. David Ospina, who arrived last summer after decent showings in the World Cup, was inconsistent with his performances as well and recent reports suggest that the 26-year-old could be on his way to Turkey.
Cech commanding presence, along with his experience of being in a championship winning team, will certainly help in stabilising the Arsenal defence. But it was never going to be easy for the Gunners to force Jose Mourinho to sell to a direct rival. The Portuguese manager would have done everything to stop this from materializing, considering he refused to even let Demba Ba move to the Emirates. Roman Abramovich was more considerate though, and despite PSGa s interest, they agreed to let Cech join a rival in order to respect his wish of remain in London.
Reports suggest that the Gunners are willing to offer him a pay rise and Cech could earn A?100,000-a-week salary at the North London club. When his agent was questioned about this reported move to Arsenal, Viktor Kolar refused to rule them out.
a No, I cannot say too much on this. I would like to know too! (laughs).a a Cecha s agent said.
But he did dismiss gossips of a possible move to Inter Milan, as the replacement of Handanovic, who is expected to join Manchester United as De Geaa s replacement.
a I have heard so many rumours in recent weeks about a possible landing place for Petr. But these do not correspond to reality.
a He is a possible Handanovic replacement a long time ago? No, at that time there was never any contact with the Nerazzurri, they were just rumours.
a I cannot therefore say if Inter would be a welcome destination, we never talked about this.a a He added.
