With Napoli no longer in the Championa s League, and Spanish manager Rafael Benitez who bought him from Real Madrid moved on, speculation was rife that Higuain could be on the move in the summer.

Reports linked the former Real Madrid man with moves to the following club: Liverpool FC, with the player reportedly asking the club to accept any offer from the Merseyside outfit; Arsenal FC reportedly making a 40 million Euro offer for the player; Manchester United agreeing terms for the player as per reports in Italy.

However, Napoli had warned potential suitors off their star striker by claiming the Argentinian had a buyout clause of almost 95 million euros ($106m, A?67.6m) in his contract and the club would not let him go for anything less.

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has now come out and insisted that Gonzalo Higuain is not for sale.

a Higuain is a phenomenal player and that is why he is not for sale. He will remain at Napoli,a Giuntoli told SportItalia.

Napoli’s new manager also ruled out any move for the player stating clearly that the player was central to his plans.

a Hea s central to our project,a Sarri insisted in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

a Hea s a strong and unpredicatable player, he has extraordinary qualities in linking up with his teammates in attack.

a So far I dona t think hea s shown his full potential, he still has room for improvement. I really hope I can pull even more out of him.a
