Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keeping an eye on PSG midfielder Marco Verratti since long. But the Gunners will have to splash more than 40 million pounds if they want to succeed in the chase of the Italian midfielder as he has just signed a 5 year contract extension at Paris Saint Germain and many others, including Real Madrid, are also interested in the services of Verratti.
Marco Verratti is considered as a heir apparent of Andrea Pirlo in the Italian media and his stock his risen considerably since his move to French champions PSG in 2013.
Marco Verratti has become an inchpin of Laurent Blanc’s PSG this season and has just signed a contract extension of 5 years with the club owned by Abu Dhabi based investors.
Arsenal are currently well stocked in midfield as Arsene Wenger has the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere at his disposal. However, the future of Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta looks increasingly away from Arsenal now as Arsene Wenger has plans to sign new world class midfielder in the summer transfer window. And PSG youngster Marco Verratti is on top of his wish list.
Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his plans to sign a top midfielder in the summer and the management of PSG is well aware of this interest of the Arsenal boss in their player. PSG have acted quickly to offer Verratti a contract extension but they fear that any lucrative offer from Arsenal or Real Madrid would make it impossible for them to hold on to their star player. Hence, PSG have already told Arsenal that they will have to pay more than 40 million pounds to get Verratti.
Meanwhile, reports coming from England and France have also confirmed the reports of the hefty price tag of Marco Verratti. Daily Star has claimed in its story today that Arsenal have been told it would cost almost £40 million to lure Marco Verratti from PSG this summer.
