A heated affair between FC Goa and Atletico de Kolkata, concluded 2-1, as two Cavin Lobo goals, deep into the second half, inspired an Atletico comeback. FC Goa’s manager Zico, was left to rue to missed chances, as his side was complacent and missed quality infront of goal.
““This is no fair result, football is like that. We had our chances to score and we did not take them,” the Brazilian legend said
“But we will try hard and try to win our next match.” added Zico
Although Zico’s Goa took the lead through Andre Santos, in the 21st minute. Cavin Lobo, spoiled the carnival for the hosts, by his two brilliant goals.
The second goal was a perhaps the highlight of the match, after Cavin stuck a sweet 18yard strike, right into the top left corner, beating Goa’s Jan Seda.
“The goals that were scored by them were very good,” Zico applauded
Meanwhile Clifford Miranda, who had a decent outing had different thoughts to the game, he said “I think it was a game well played, we controlled the first half, we controlled most of the game but unfortunately, we conceded a goal and ended up on the back foot and conceded another. We did try to come back later in the game but I think it was too little too late.”while talking to the ISL Media Team
Andre Santos who scored Goa’ first goal, thanks to a rare defensive lapse by Atletico de Kolkata, earned praises from his teammates, as well as the amazing Goan crowd.
“He’s a quick player and he’s played for some of the biggest clubs in world football and he has really played well of late; he’s one the players whom we are looking up to.” added Miranda.
With Goa sitting at 6th place, amounting just a point, in it’s three fixtures, the grass might not be greener on the other side.
“The results have been bad for sure, it’s really not how we expected it to be but you know, it’s more of a marathon than a sprint so all is not lost. But our target is still to get into the top four so we will try our best to achieve our goal.” concluded Miranda.
FC Goa face a trip away to fellow strugglers FC Pune City, on the 26th of October.
