Manchester United manager David Moyes has hailed the character of his side ahead of their trip to face Newcastle United.

Manchester United bounced have back well from a humbling 0-3 defeat in the Manchester derby with two wonderful results – first a 4-1 win over Aston Villa, followed by a brilliant performance against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford. Their match against the reigning European Champions was predicted to be an one sided affair by most of the experts, but United showed immense spirit and defensive organization to hold Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw, and would perhaps regret not managing a win after the good chances they created.

Manchester United will now hope to maintain this momentum in the Premier league as they travel to face Newcastle United. Talking to press ahead of this trip, David Moyes has hailed his side’s character and strength.

“You can never question the character of Manchester United. It is there and it is ingrained in the football club.

“I believe the club showed its strength and has needed to show it at times this year. Everybody within the club has shown it and the atmosphere of the crowd was magnificent, it really was.” – The Manchester United manager said.

He also looked back on the match against Bayern Munich and praised the performances of his players on the night and stated that his side had a lot of positives to take out of that match.

“It was a terrific performance from the players and an all-round really good night. It was a special night as far as I am concerned, maybe one of the best games I have ever been involved in, because of the atmosphere, the crowd and the standard of the opposition. But more importantly, it was special because of the performance the players put in. I thought they played really well, so it was a good night. I was a bit disappointed with the result, but overall there were a lot of good things to take from it.

“I think the crowd was buoyed by the commitment of the players and tactically we had to be good on the night because we were playing against a really good team. I think most people inside the ground understood what was required in the game and I think they appreciated the efforts of the players.” – Moyes added.

With Tottenham not playing until Monday, Manchester United have the chance to move up to sixth in the league table with a win over Newcastle United. The Red Devils did manage a comfortable 0-3 win on their last visit to this ground and Newcastle United haven’t been in good form recently as well.
