Germany attacker Marco Reus was forced off injured in yesterday night’s 6-1 victory over Armenia in Mainz. While, Spain’s Diego Costa is fully fit now and he will be playing against El Salvador tonight.

The Borussia Dortmund attacker faced heavy challenge from Artur Yedigaryan of Armenia which left him in too much of a pain and he had to be replaced by substitute Lukas Podolski during the friendly game.

Reus was immediately taken to hospital and doctors have taken the MRI scan of the player; results of which will decide whether he will be able to play in the World Cup or not.

Reus is widely considered as one of the most talented attacker of Germany and his inclusion in the starting XI was almost guaranteed. Now, Germany coach Joachim Low has been forced to find his replacement.

When asked about the injury status of Resus, Germany coach did not sound much optimistic. He said: “He’s in the hospital, undergoing a MRI scan. We have to wait for the results. In such a situation you have many thoughts running through your head.

“During half-time we saw that his foot had swollen. I hope that he hasn’t suffered a ligament injury and everything is okay.

“But it looked bad. We can call up another player until 24 hours before the first game.”

Germany will be playing their first game of World Cup against Portugal on 16th June in Salvador. USA and Ghana are the other members of group G.

World Champions has got a big injury boost today as their number one striker Diego Costa has fully recovered from his injury and he will be playing against El Salvador tonight.

Diego Costa spent final two months of last season struggling with his injuries and lasted for only 9 minutes during the Champions League final. However, despite of his injury concerns, Spain coach Del Bosque had selected him for the World Cup and now, the player is certain to play the whole tournament.

“Diego Costa will play. If we thought it was a risk to include him, then we wouldn’t,” Spain’s coach, Vicente Del Bosque, said in a press conference. “He will play tomorrow because he has been training well, is in good form and we want to try him out.”

“He has personality, helps the team and has done more than enough this year to deserve to be with us,” said Del Bosque.

Spain coach Del Bosque opted to rest Real Madrid and Atletico stars for their first friendly against Bolivia but he confirmed today that those who missed first game will get their chance to play against El Salvador.

“We are now finishing the second week of work. We are going to go out against El Salvador with those that have worked less and weren’t with us in the first week,” Del Bosque confirmed. “The aim at the moment is to be in top form for the third week of training.”
