Almost all of world football’s biggest stars will be playing in the Brazil. However, some players were the obvious choices of their respective coaches but will miss the World Cup because of the injuries.
List of injured players is getting bigger with every passing day. Recent reports have claimed that Portuguese star is not fully fit and may miss the start of the World Cup.
However, Ronaldo is not the only star who is facing the danger. There are many whose non-participation in Brazil is confirmed. THT gives you the list of biggest stars who will not be representing their country for this World Cup.
We start with Germany. BVB midfielder and Barcelona target Ilkay Gungogan is the biggest casualty of Low’s side. Gundogan is troubled with the back injury and he is yet to recover. Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez also missed the majority part of the season due to injury and not coming to Brazil.
Bayern defender Holger Badstuber is out with cruciate ligament injury since long and naturally, will not make it to Brazil.
Italy were lucky with players’ injuries until last week but Ricardo Montolivo broke his leg during a friendly game and will not be coming to Brazil. Giuseppe Rossi spent most of his season on dressing table but was recovered on time but Coach Prandelli overlooked him.
Defending champions Spain will be without keeper Victor Valdes and midfielder Thiago Alcantara. Valdes is out because of cruciate ligament while Alcantara facing trouble with knee ligament.
Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands are the biggest victims of the players injuries so far. Rafael van der Vaart is out with calf injury while Gregory van der Wiel and Kevin Strootman are out with knee problems.
Neighbours of Netherlands, France, are spared by the injuries as the only player who is out is reserve keeper Steve Mandanda. The Marseille keeper’s cervical verterbra (neck) not recovering on time and he may not come to Brazil. He has been selected in their 23 man squad though.
England coach got the news of Theo Walcott much prior to the tournament. The Arsenal strikers anterior cruciate ligament is injured since January. Tottenham duo of Kyle Walker and Andros Townsend will also spend their summer in England only.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will be without Galatasaray youngster Bruma and Benfcia defender Silvio. Bruma is out with anterior cruciate ligament trouble while Silvio has broken his leg.
Colombia’s superstar striker Radamel Falcao is the biggest name to miss out the trip to Brazil. The AS Monaco striker is also out with anterior cruciate ligament injury since January.
Hosts Brazil and neighbors Argentina are the luckiest teams as full squad is available for selection to both Alejandro Sabella and Scolari. And apart from aforementioned heavyweight nations, the biggest name not coming to Brazil is Croatia star Nico Kranckjaer.
